BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 is sexy and significantly improve user experience

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 is speed up , more thin and has a iphone 5 style steel band around its tapered edge: the Blackberry Bold 9900 aka the Bold Touch (see BlackBerry touch roadmap) is a unique update to Blackberry's flagship line.

The new BlackBerry Bold Touch, one of five smartphones just released on the new Blackberry 7 os  will please Blackberry-users and features like a vastly more responsive touch-screen and 40% quicker browser speeds will significantly improve user experience.

Then the hardware is pretty sweet too: tapered edges and metal banding made the device feel like a real quality handset.

The RIM exec explained that the new Bold featured its traditional precision-engineered keyboard, as well as the classic BB trackpad and a fast and fluid touch screen. There's a hefty 1.2ghz chip inside too.

Otherwise users will be going back for the same qualities that attracted them to BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 in the first place: security, BBM, QWERTY keyboards.

With an elegantly brushed stainless steel frame, sculpted surfaces and advanced composite backing, the BlackBerry Bold Touch smartphones are as lightweight and durable as they are feature-packed.

Now it's up there to stay, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 (aka the Bold Touch) have been made official as RIM kicks off BlackBerry World in Orlando. As expected, the phone packs a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor that has only a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen with a 287dpi pixel density to worry about.

On the back is a five megapixel camera and inside is 8GB of internal storage (with microSD expansion) and NFC circuitry. At 10.5mm it's RIM's thinnest handset yet, featuring a stainless steel circumference and a fiberglass back, while up front of course it makes room for a full QWERTY keyboard.

The 9900 supports HSPA+ connectivity to get its 4G on, while the 9930 is the world variant, adding dual-band CDMA and quad-band GSM to the mix, and both do 802.11a/b/g/n along with Bluetooth 2.1. Both, quite naturally, include the new BlackBerry 7 OS, including a faster browser and voice-activated search.

Pick up the Blackberry Bold 9900 and you'll definitely know about it. It's 130g, so it's by no means feather-light. But would you want it any other way? Ultimately, this is a handset that's supposed to feel like it means business, and at least it feels lighter than you expect it to be.

RIM's also bucked the trend in making a phone that's bigger than its predecessor, the 9780. In fact, it's like looking at a smaller version of Ol' Grandpa Bold, the original Blackberry Bold 9900 – albeit smaller than that huge elder statesman and with a trackpad instead of a trackball.

Blackberry is great at email.  I use profiles, autotext, blackberry filters, the whole shebang.  That being said - they have put out some sh*t hardware in the past, and I'm talking about my current bold, which barely has 1 day battery life, the browser is sh*t, it randomly reboots, etc.  And not just me - the 10 others of us in my department have similar complaints.

I'm awaiting a blackberry because (a) the iPhone doesn't have as much customization (or the physical keyboard, or even the LED flash and how-many-messages-you-have in the status bar), and it's loudest won't wake me up.  But the new iOS has autotext and you can change the sound for email.  Getting closer to being "good enough" for me.
